Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the leadership of madrasah principals as agents of change in improving teacher creativity at MI Ma’arif in Majenang District. The study employed a qualitative approach with a multisite study design conducted in three Islamic elementary schools. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving principals, teachers, and educational staff. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and interactive conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that madrasah principals acted as agents of change by creating collaborative work cultures, conducting academic supervision, strengthening work motivation, and supporting teachers’ professional development. The strategies implemented included training programs, mentoring, learning discussions, and providing opportunities for teachers to innovate. Teacher creativity improved in lesson planning, the use of varied teaching methods, learning media utilization, and the courage to implement innovative learning practices. Supporting factors included principals’ commitment, collaborative culture, and teacher motivation, while inhibiting factors included limited facilities, administrative workload, and unequal technological competence among teachers. This study confirms that the leadership of madrasah principals as agents of change plays an important role in building innovation culture and enhancing teacher creativity in Islamic elementary schools.
