Link and Match atau Mismatch? Analisis Kesesuaian Kompetensi dengan Dunia Kerja pada Alumni UPT Balai Latihan Kerja Jember

This study is based on the idea that the competencies of graduates from job training institutions should align with the needs of the business and industrial sectors (DUDI). However, mismatch conditions are still found in vocational education, including among alumni of UPT Balai Latihan Kerja Jember. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of alumni competencies with the labor market, identify the causes of mismatch, and formulate strategies to strengthen link and match. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 20 alumni of UPT Balai Latihan Kerja Jember in 2025 selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted via WhatsApp. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model supported by coding techniques, while data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that most alumni had a high level of competency suitability, particularly in hard skills and soft skills. However, partial match and mismatch conditions were still found, especially in electrical installation training programs, caused by factors such as interests, age, limited job opportunities, economic pressure, and job competition. Improvement strategies include developing industry-based curricula, strengthening collaboration with DUDI, implementing continuous evaluation based on tracer studies, and improving alumni work readiness.
