This study aims to examine the influence of macroeconomic factors and internal banking characteristics on credit growth in commercial banks in Indonesia during the 2015–2024 period. Credit growth is an important indicator of banking performance and economic development, making it essential to understand the factors that influence lending activities. The macroeconomic factors analyzed include inflation and interest rates, while the internal banking factors consist of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and bank size. This study employs secondary data obtained from the World Bank, Bank Focus, and Refinitiv Eikon. The sample comprises 20 commercial banks with a total of 172 observations selected using purposive sampling. Panel data regression analysis using the Common Effect Model (CEM) was applied to examine the relationships among the variables. The results indicate that inflation has a positive and significant effect on credit growth. In contrast, interest rates, CAR, and NPL have negative and significant effects on credit growth. Meanwhile, bank size exhibits a negative but statistically insignificant relationship with credit growth. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly affect credit growth in Indonesian commercial banks. These findings suggest that credit growth is influenced not only by macroeconomic conditions but also by internal banking factors, particularly capital adequacy and credit risk, providing useful implications for banking management and policymakers in supporting sustainable lending.
