This study aims to analyze the effect of work ethic on the performance of Daihatsu workshop mechanics in Japan. The research background is based on the observation that existing studies in the Japanese automotive industry have focused predominantly on assembly-line workers in manufacturing, while the after-sales service sector (workshops) remains understudied. Using a quantitative survey approach, questionnaires were distributed to 31 respondents selected by purposive sampling from nine Daihatsu branches across various prefectures in Japan, measured with a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). Results show that work ethic has a positive and statistically significant association with mechanic performance (regression coefficient = 0.797; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The R² value of 0.612 indicates that work ethic explains 61.2% of the variance in mechanic performance. These findings suggest that strengthening work discipline, responsibility, work commitment, and cooperation can help companies improve work quality and mechanic productivity.
