Penerapan Hand Massage dalam Menurunkan Nyeri pada Pasien Post Operasi Sectio Caesarea di RSUD dr.R.Goeteng Taroenadibrata Purbalingga

Pain is a common problem experienced by women after cesarean section and may interfere with comfort, mobilization, rest, breastfeeding, and the recovery process. This community service activity aimed to implement hand massage as a complementary non-pharmacological intervention to help reduce pain in postoperative cesarean section patients. The activity was conducted from 16 May to 3 June 2026 in the Bougenville Inpatient Ward of dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Hospital, Purbalingga. A total of 30 postoperative cesarean section patients participated in the activity. The intervention consisted of education using leaflets, pain assessment using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), hand massage for 10–15 minutes, and reassessment of pain intensity after the intervention. Before the intervention, 22 participants (73.3%) experienced moderate pain and 8 participants (26.7%) experienced mild pain. After the intervention, 24 participants (80.0%) experienced mild pain and 6 participants (20.0%) experienced moderate pain. The mean pain score decreased from 3.93 before the intervention to 3.07 after the intervention. A total of 25 participants experienced a decrease in pain scores. The results indicate that hand massage can be applied as a complementary non-pharmacological intervention to help reduce pain in postoperative cesarean section patients.
