Abstract

Waste management from an early age is an important strategy in forming sustainable environmental care behavior. Early childhood children are at a developmental stage that is greatly influenced by concrete and fun experiences, so an educational-participatory approach is relevant to be applied. This service activity aims to introduce the concept of waste sorting and foster environmental awareness through play activities and hands-on practice. Children are introduced to the difference between organic and non-organic waste, then invited to participate in a game of sorting waste pictures using used cardboard boxes. In addition, the practice of using used oil bottles into plant pots provides real experience in turning used goods into useful objects. The results show that children are enthusiastic about participating in activities, are able to try to group waste pictures with assistance, and are actively involved in the creative process. This activity provides a concrete, fun, and meaningful learning experience, as well as being the first step in getting used to environmental care behavior at school. Thus, the introduction of waste management through play methods can be an important foundation in environmental education from an early age.
