Democracy education plays a crucial role in shaping citizens who are informed, responsible, and possess strong character. However, challenges such as low political participation among the youth, the proliferation of unverified information, and a weak democratic culture within schools highlight the need to continuously strengthen democracy education. This community service initiative involved academics serving as speakers at the "First-Time Voter Political School and Public Dissemination: Democracy Education, Meritocracy, and Student Leadership Integrity in Schools" event, organized by VODEM.ID on June 2, 2026, at LaCafe, Tanah Grogot, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, and via a hybrid Zoom session. Participants included students, teachers, educational staff, election officials, and academics. The material presented focused on the concept of the school as a "laboratory of democracy," emphasizing the importance of integrating democracy education into school culture and the learning process. The event succeeded in enhancing participants' understanding of democratic values, integrity, meritocracy, and the importance of active participation in democratic life. It also yielded recommendations for strengthening democracy education in schools to foster a healthy and sustainable democratic culture.
