Abstract

Selecting a specialization at a Vocational High School (SMK) is a crucial step that shapes a student's future educational and career path. At SMK Negeri 1 Portibi, the specialization selection process is currently conducted manually; students choose their majors based on personal preference without systematically considering their academic aptitude and interests. This often leads to a mismatch between a student's potential and their chosen major, thereby affecting learning motivation and academic performance.The activity titled "Training and Mentoring on the Use of a Decision Support System for Specialization Selection at SMK Negeri 1 Portibi" aims to enhance the capabilities of teachers—specifically Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers, homeroom teachers, and school management—in utilizing information technology in the form of a Decision Support System (DSS).Through the training sessions, participants will gain an understanding of DSS concepts, the operating principles of the TOPSIS method, and the steps for using the application to generate specialization recommendations based on established criteria. Subsequently, through the mentoring phase, the community service team will provide direct guidance to participants on implementing the system within the school's selection process—covering everything from student data management and criterion weighting to the calculation process and the interpretation of recommendation results.
