Abstract

This research aims to analyze the evolution of scientific investigations related to steel properties in seawater environments using a bibliometric methodology. Empirical data were extracted from global scientific repositories and analyzed using Bibliometrix software together with Biblioshiny. The examination covered annual publication trends, author productivity, country contributions, collaborative networks among authors, and mapping of relevant keywords. The findings indicate that publication volume showed variability throughout the observation period, but experienced a significant increase in the final year, reflecting growing interest in the subject matter. China emerged as the country contributing the highest number of publications, followed by several other developed nations. Collaborative networks revealed the presence of dynamic groups of researchers which contribute significantly to the development of this research field. Dominant keywords were associated with themes of corrosion, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, microstructure, and additive manufacturing. This study supports the view that research on steel properties in seawater is an emerging strategic domain with the capacity to drive future innovations in marine materials.
