Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning interest problems of Generation Alpha in Aqidah Akhlak learning among seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Washliyah Pangkalan Berandan and to identify the factors associated with their learning interest. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of an Aqidah Akhlak teacher and three seventh-grade students selected purposively to represent active, passive, and reading-and-writing difficulty characteristics. The findings show that students have different levels and forms of learning interest. The active student was more engaged in learning with peers and group discussions; the passive student liked the subject but tended to remain silent because of fear of giving wrong answers and embarrassment; while the student with reading and writing difficulties required repeated explanations and assistance but still participated orally. Internal factors included learning ability, reading ability, confidence, embarrassment, and fear of making mistakes. External factors included teaching methods, the amount of material, classroom conditions, and habits of using mobile phones and playing games. Students also showed more positive responses to illustrated worksheets (LKPD) and group discussions. These findings indicate that learning interest should be understood in relation to individual student characteristics and learning conditions.
