This study aims to improve the ability to learn Indonesian sentences through the illustrated story method in grade VI students of SDK Betun I. The problem in this study is the low ability of students to understand and compose SPOK sentences (Subject, Predicate, Object, and Caption). This research uses the type of Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in three cycles, namely cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects amounted to 9 students in grade VI of SDK Betun I. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and learning outcome tests. Data is analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study show that the application of the pictorial story method can improve students' learning ability to understand SPOK sentences. In the pre-action stage, the average score of students was 63.5 with a completion percentage of 22.22%. In the first cycle, the average score increased to 72 with a completion percentage of 55.55%. Subsequently, in the third cycle the average score of students increased to 77 with a completion percentage of 77.77%. In addition to improving learning outcomes, students' activities and activeness in the learning process have also increased. Based on the results of this improvement, it can be concluded that the illustrated story method is effectively used to improve the ability to learn Indonesian sentences in the SPOK material for grade VI students of SDK Betun I.
