Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of morphology interference of the Madurane languaget on the use of Indonesian in writing exposition texts by tenth-grade students of MA Al Ma'arif, to analyze their frequency, and to identify the causal factors. This research was a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through classroom observation, interview, and documentation of students' exposition texts. Data analysis followed the model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that morphological interference occurred significantly in affixation processes, especially the use of local dialect prefixes and suffixes, which corrupted the standardized structure of Indonesian. The primary factors triggering this interference include the bilingual ability of speakers, the absolute dominance of the Madura dialect as the mother tongue in informal daily communication, and the lack of comprehensive language awareness in distinguishing official written styles from casual oral habits. These findings suggest the urgency of language-awareness-oriented learning strategies to improve students' academic writing skills.
