Mathematics learning in elementary schools still faces challenges because multiplication is often presented abstractly and procedurally. This study aimed to examine the effect of traditional congklak game media on fourth-grade students’ understanding of multiplication concepts at SD Negeri Cikahuripan. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The research sample consisted of 56 students, divided into an experimental group taught using congklak media and a control group taught using conventional learning. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, observation sheets, and documentation. The instruments were validated by experts and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and inferential tests with SPSS. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental group increased from 51.50 to 79.29, while the control group increased from 52.68 to 73.68. The hypothesis testing indicated a significant effect of congklak media on multiplication concept understanding (Sig. = 0.002 < 0.05). These findings imply that traditional games can be used as contextual, enjoyable, and culturally relevant learning media in elementary mathematics.
