Abstract

This study aims to improve mathematics learning achievement on the material of various diagrams through the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) method for second-grade students of SDN 6 Langkai. The research adopts the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 24 students. Data collection was conducted through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the CTL method successfully increased students' activeness and learning outcomes significantly. The percentage of student activeness rose from 62.5% in Cycle I to 93.75% in Cycle II. In addition, the average student learning score increased from 67 to 78, with the percentage of learning completeness soaring from 63% to 92%. This increase is caused by the CTL approach, which relates learning material to students' real-life experiences, making the learning process more active, meaningful, and easily digestible. Thus, the CTL method has been proven effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of various diagrams for Class II B students at SDN 6 Langkai.
