Aspek Neurologi Bahasa Menurut Abdul Chaer dalam Perspektif Neurolinguistik Modern

Abstract

This study examines the neurological aspects of language proposed by Abdul Chaer within the framework of modern neurolinguistics. Language is not merely a system of symbols, but also a biological and cognitive process rooted in the human brain. This research aims to describe Chaer’s concept of language neurology, analyze recent developments in neurolinguistics, and explore its relevance to linguistics, language acquisition, language disorders, and language education. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods by analyzing various scholarly sources related to neurolinguistics. The findings indicate that Chaer’s perspective aligns with classical localization theory, emphasizing the dominance of the left hemisphere in language processing, particularly in Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas. However, modern neurolinguistic findings reveal that language processing involves complex and distributed neural networks, including dorsal and ventral pathways. In addition, neuroplasticity plays an important role in language acquisition, learning processes, and language recovery in individuals with neurological disorders. The study also shows that neurolinguistics has significant implications for language learning methods, cognitive development, and the treatment of language disorders such as aphasia and dyslexia. The study concludes that while Chaer’s concept remains relevant as a foundational framework in neurolinguistic studies, it requires integration with contemporary neuroscience findings to provide a more comprehensive understanding of language processing in the human brain.
