Systematic Literature Review : Eksplorasi Etnomatematika Permainan Kelereng dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Kontekstual di Sekolah Dasar

Mathematics is often perceived as an abstract, rigid, and difficult subject for elementary school students to understand. This condition leads to low student interest and engagement in the learning process. One approach that can address this issue is ethnomathematics, which integrates local cultural elements into mathematics learning to create a more contextual and meaningful educational experience. This study aims to systematically explore mathematical concepts found in the traditional marble game and examine their implementation in elementary school mathematics learning. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing eight scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026 from Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar databases. The findings indicate that the marble game contains various mathematical concepts, including geometry in the forms of spheres, circles, and triangles, arithmetic operations such as addition and subtraction, as well as distance measurement and strategic thinking. The implementation of marble games in mathematics learning can enhance students’ engagement, motivation, and understanding through contextual and enjoyable learning experiences. The study concludes that ethnomathematics based on traditional marble games has significant potential as an innovative learning medium in elementary schools. However, its successful implementation requires active teacher involvement in connecting game activities with formal mathematical concepts to ensure effective learning outcomes.
