Abstract

Nahwu plays a crucial role in Arabic language instruction as it forms the basis for understanding sentence structure and grammatical functions. Nevertheless, students often perceive nahwu as a challenging subject due to its predominantly theoretical presentation and limited practical application. This situation frequently results in low student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Tamyiz method in enhancing students’ activeness and nahwu learning achievement among Grade 2E students of KMI Pondok Modern Tazakka, Batang, Central Java, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The participants included 32 students. Data were collected through classroom observations, achievement tests, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings revealed a substantial improvement following the implementation of the Tamyiz method. In the first cycle, student activeness reached 75%, with a learning mastery rate of 78% and a mean score of 74.21. After instructional refinement in the second cycle, student activeness increased to 100%, learning mastery reached 100%, and the mean score improved to 96. These results indicate that the Tamyiz method is effective in promoting student engagement and improving nahwu learning outcomes, and therefore can be recommended as an alternative instructional strategy for teaching nahwu in a more structured and practical manner.
