Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of workload, social support, and work-life balance on the work stress of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Regional Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Work stress is one of the factors that can affect employee productivity, performance, and well-being in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. This study employed a quantitative approach involving 211 ASN working in Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) located in the Governor’s Office Complex of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was probability sampling with a proportional random sampling method, in which 50% of ASN from each OPD were selected as research respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicate that workload has a positive and significant effect on ASN work stress, meaning that higher workloads tend to increase employees’ stress levels. In contrast, social support has a negative and significant effect on work stress, indicating that stronger support from the work and social environment can help reduce stress. Meanwhile, the work-life balance variable also shows a significant effect on ASN work stress. These findings are expected to provide both theoretical and practical contributions for organizations in developing policies aimed at minimizing work stress, improving employee well-being, and creating a healthier, more productive, and sustainable work environment.
