Optimalisasi Pelaksanaan Lashing Container Saat Pemuatan di MV Lembar

Abstract

The implementation of container lashing is a critical aspect in ensuring cargo safety and maintaining vessel stability during voyages. However, on board MV Lembar, its implementation has not been optimal due to equipment wear and tear, gaps in crew competence, tight loading and unloading schedules, and weather conditions. These conditions may lead to container shifting, cargo damage, operational disruptions, and risks to crew safety and vessel stability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of container lashing during loading operations, identify the factors causing suboptimal performance, and formulate optimization efforts in accordance with maritime safety standards. The research employs a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation involving the Chief Officer, Boatswain, and deck crew. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation. The results indicate that implementation has not fully met safety standards due to inadequate equipment, limited working time, and variations in crew skills. The impacts include increased risks of container shifting, cargo damage, work accidents, and disruptions to sailing schedules. Optimization include routine equipment maintenance, improving crew competence, and enforcing work procedures
