Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of prophetic leadership as an instrument for character formation among students at SDI Darussalam Omben Sampang. The research is motivated by the urgent need to strengthen character education amid increasing moral decline in educational settings. A qualitative approach with a field research design was employed, with data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation review involving the principal, teachers, and students. Data were analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and conclusion verification, validated via source triangulation and member checking. Findings reveal that prophetic leadership was concretely implemented through exemplary conduct, effective communication, and comprehensive stakeholder engagement. Core prophetic values—honesty (shiddiq), trustworthiness (amanah), wisdom (fathanah), and effective communication (tabligh)—were successfully internalized through consistent habituation programs and school culture development. Consequently, measurable improvements in students' character were observed across dimensions of discipline, responsibility, and social awareness. This study contributes to strengthening the conceptual framework of prophethood-based leadership as a relevant approach to character education in Islamic educational institutions.
